Emergency Order 20-17 Issued

- Outlines retail establishments and restaurants signage requirements -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL -  County Administrator Bertha Henry issued
Emergency Order 20-17 today, which requires retail establishments and restaurants to post signage containing information regarding social distancing and facial covering requirements, to further mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Signs must be conspicuously placed throughout these establishments, including at all entry points. Signs must be at least 8 1/2 x 11" and posted in multiple languages (minimum English, Creole and Spanish). The English and Spanish versions of the sign can be
downloaded now. The Creole version of the signs will be available at this link prior to Monday, when the Order takes effect.

Henry said, “Given the recent uptick in our COVID-19 statistics, it is timely to remind the public of the importance of complying with all Centers for Disease Control & Prevention guidelines, including those related to facial coverings and social distancing. The purpose of this Order is to reinforce resident adherence to those guidelines. This is no time to let down our guard.”

County and Department of Health officials are closely monitoring the percentage of positive cases. That percentage is on the rise in Broward County, as well as other Florida communities.

Residents are also encouraged to participate in the compliance process by reporting violations to MyBroward.Broward.org. Select “Request for Service,” enter the location of the violation, and select “COVID-19 Business Complaints” as the Type of Issue. You can also call the Broward County Call Center at 311 or 954-831-4000. Both types of reports can be made anonymously.
