 Are You Facing Eviction?
Legal Aid May Be Able to Assist You

Governor DeSantis did not extend the Executive Order 20-211.

This means that starting today, landlords can file eviction complaints, get a trial date, request the Courts to enter a Final Judgment against tenants for lack of payment of rent, and execute the Writ of Possession against tenants.

As of October 1, 2020, the only protection available to tenants who have been affected by COVID-19 is to complete and provide the landlord with a CDC Declaration Form, and request the Landlord or the Court to stay the eviction until December 31, 2020.

Legal Aid Service of Broward County has received a grant from Broward County, utilizing CARES Act funds, to support providing legal services to Broward County residents who are facing pandemic-related legal issues. The key focus of the grant is housing-related, such as impending evictions, but will also include consumer, veteran, special education, and tax matters.

Services under this grant became available on September 1, and are expected to run through November 30, 2020. The public is encouraged to call Legal Aid to determine their eligibility to receive assistance.
