Hurricane season is right around the corner and based on information from the National weather Service the conditions are right for an above average season of tropical storms and hurricanes. As many as 18 named storms and 16 Tropical Storms are being forecasted to develop over the next several months. So, 
NOW is the time to begin preparing.  
Every hurricane season brings anxiety and stress when activity in the Atlantic Ocean is identified. Although, 2020 has begun with an unusual start to say the least whether COVID19 or Floridians know the most import thing that can mitigate a catastrophe is being prepared. 
As part of your preparations, remember to check your disaster supply kits. Ensure you have at least a 3 to 5-day supply of non-perishable items, plus water. Keep a full tank of gas in your vehicle, familiarize yourself evacuation routes and make plans to secure homes while mitigating surrounding areas of your home. Locate and review your insurance coverage, secure valuables and other important documents. As, a reminder continue, to monitor local media for important updates. In addition to these suggestions, we are all in this together so please also reach out to your neighbors to determine if they need any special assistance or help with their preparations. 
If, you have not done so please review your respective departments Emergency Response Plans and Continuity of Operations Plans, for the upcoming 2020 hurricane season.
In, addition to the aforementioned recommendations, please mark your calendars for this year’s Sales Tax Holiday that begins Friday, May 29 2020 and extends through June 4,2020. During the Sales Tax Holiday period, qualifying items related to disaster preparedness are exempt from sales tax (please see attached for approved qualifying items).
